Roger has been a professional writer for over 25 years and is now enjoying the life of a freelance writer. Until August of 2009, Roger was the manager of technical publications and an engineering development project manager for Instron where he has worked in the materials testing field for 22 years. He has a Master's degree in Technical and Professional Writing from Northeastern University and a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He has also taught Online Documentation as an Associate Professor at Northeastern.

Roger has managed several engineering development projects related to materials testing, including impact and hardness testers, working with engineering and manufacturing staff in the USA, Germany, and China.

Prior to joining Instron, Roger was an aircraft engineer in the Royal Air Force. He is a qualified private pilot.

Roger is married with two sons and two grandchildren. He lives near Boston, Massachusetts.
